Paul’s Journey.
Today’s professional world is interdisciplinary and multidimensional, a reflection of a global marketplace and the diversity of people that create it. Interdisciplinary and multidimensional would also be the right words to describe my professional journey. I’ve had the wonderful privilege of working in the corporate world, in government, and in educational institutions. This interdisciplinary experience has not only helped me operate successfully in multidimensional world, but has helped me see the absolute need to approach things multidimensionally. Nothing is one-dimensional. Solutions shouldn’t be either.
Excitement for me in a professional setting is finding new solutions, working with talented people and teams, and seeing real impact for real people.
Here are a few highlights from where I’ve been on my interdisciplinary journey.
Assistant Dean at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. In this capacity, I was responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of continuing education programs as well as internal development programs for the university. Internal to Georgetown, I managed programs focused on improving collaboration across the university enterprise, establishing a common focus among key university stakeholders, and applying innovation practices to university-specific challenges and higher education trends. Externally, I worked with organizations around the world to develop and deliver executive education programs that extended Georgetown’s reach, furthered its reputation globally, and provided critical revenue streams to the school and university enterprise.
Creator and Director of Business Leaders Program at the Freedom Forum Institute’s Religious Freedom Center. This program, focused on helping business leaders understand the role and impact of faith and belief among their employees and markets, was the first executive education capability and program for business leaders of its kind.
Academic Director and Assistant Professor at the National Defense University. For my service there, I received the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joint Meritorious Civilian Service Award, the highest award available for civilian service from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Other positions include serving on the Executive Education Advisory Board for the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy as the school worked to create its first global offerings in custom executive education, participating as an active member of the Consortium for University-based Executive Education (UNICON), a global consortium for university-based executive education for business and government entities, and as a board member of the Religious Freedom & Business Foundation.
